Management Development
This is an extended modular programme to equip managers with the skills to succeed individually and as effective people managers.
Purpose
This modular programme provides managers at all levels with the skills, techniques, and the confidence to perform at the highest level, personally and within a business unit as a people manager. It enables managers to become aware of their personal style, to learn how to challenge unhelpful behaviours – personal and those of a team, and to create an environment where people feel truly valued and engagement can flourish.
Programme
This programme comprises a number of modules delivered over the course of four to six months. Each programme is uniquely tailored to the client’s needs and context, but a generic programme might include one or more of the following three areas:
Managing self
Based on the premise that to manage others successfully you need to manage yourself successfully, the focus of this section is on developing:
- Self-awareness through world-class psychometric profiling and feedback tools
- Authenticity as a people manager
- Personal effectiveness and impact
Managing others
The focus here is on getting high quality 1:1 business relationships through:
- Adapting your leadership style to fit the individual / team
- Delegation, engagement and motivation
- The manager as coach
- Giving positive and negative feedback
- Handling underperformance
- Clear communication
Creating a high performance culture
Once the 1:1 relationship is right we apply the tools and learning to:
- Develop real teamwork
- Build a culture of high performance
- Create cross-functional collaboration
Content varies from client to client but our fundamental approach remains the same. We believe that well-functioning and honest relationships get the best out of people. Our facilitators promote a climate of trust and support within our management development programmes. By adopting a ‘coaching’ style of leadership they cultivate a culture of accountability and individual & team excellence among managers; enhancing skills and developing a mind-set immediately transferable to business roles.
Outcomes
Bespoke outcomes for each course module will be agreed in advance with the client, as will the support required in the workplace to enable delegates to implement their learning through the action plans they will have developed during their training.
On completion of the programme, participants will have developed the skills to:
- focus on the achievement of goals – personal, team and organisational
- raise their profile as a manager and leader
- understand their own leadership style
- fully engage their team
- effectively coach team members
- pro-actively manage performance and deal effectively with conflict
This will result in a more harmonious working environment with greater efficiency and delivery in achieving personal and business goals.
